This Carpenter
Gothic style home was built circa 1865. It was deeded to the
Georgia Baptist Orphans Home in 1932. Henry Jennings purchased
it in 1936. The Highsmiths became its current owner in 1983.
The house features
pure heart-pine construction. The main floor beams are mortise
and tenon fitted, secured by wooden pegs. Some structural
changes were made in the 1930’s. The Highsmiths have re-exposed
the original wide-pine board interior walls and renovated the
exterior in period colors.
