Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit

1170 Georgia Avenue, SE

This Episcopal Church was organized in 1957. Services were held in the Dawson Woman’s Garden Clubhouse until the present building was completed. It was dedicated on March 13, 1960, by the Rev. Albert Rhett Stuart, DD., Bishop of Georgia.

The Colonial-Gothic style house of worship was designed by the distinguished architect Edward Vason Jones. Many of its features were patterned after Brewton Parish Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, and the Zion Church in Talbotton, Georgia.
