Bell-Raines-Curtis-Curran

419 Church Street, NE

This Neo-Classical style home was built prior to 1850. The home was constructed to meet the needs of Southern living of its day. It had a large veranda and a central hall for summer ventilation. Each room had a fireplace for winter heat. An unusual feature of the home is three fireplaces using one chimney.

It remained in the Bell family until 1935. Mrs. Edwin Bell sold it to her neighbor, Mrs. A. G. Raines. Mrs. Orrin Curtis became it owner in 1969. Dick and Barbara Curran purchased it in 2001, and they continue its restoration.
